About the Artist:
Maithili Thakur is an Indian singer from Madhubani, a district in Bihar, who is known for reviving the folk musical heritage of Madhubani (and now the rest of India). She blends Indian classical and folk music in the most soulful, sincere way.
She first shot to fame on Rising Star but her popularity rose after she started sharing beautiful renditions of folk songs, bhajans, and classical pieces on social media, accompanied by her two younger brothers. Her renditions are pure and she not just keeps the folk tradition of Madhubani alive, but now also performs folk renditions from other languages & cultures.
Here are a couple of podcasts of her that I loved listening to.
The first one starts in Marathi but the conversation takes place in Hindi :
This second one is more informal and I thought that it was almost crossing a boundary delving into personal aspects of her life, but in the end, it turned out to be interesting and engaging :
Hope you enjoy watching these, as much as I did 🙂
